Biography

In 1947, Jack Wallace and George Brown were Eric Strain’s two crew members aboard Ceres that became the first Northern Ireland boat to win the coveted Gold Cup for the Dragon World Championship. The following year, the three men were aboard Ceres II in the Dragon class at the London Olympics but could only finish fourth. After Strain left Britain, Wallace became part of J. E. E. Robb’s crew members aboard Satyr, one of the 17 hopefuls of making it to the 1952 Olympics from the qualifying races on the Solent, but it would not be a second Olympic appearance for Wallace.
