Olaf Ørvig was the owner of the yacht Heira II. He started as a manager for the Poseidon insurance company and became head of the Bergen branch office. From 1914 he was the owner of a shipping company which he named after himself. He was active in several commercial shipping federations and on the board of the Bergen art museum. Together with Hans Stoermann-Næss Ørvig competed in car races on ice. Olaf’s brothers Erik and Thor were also members of the crew.
