Biography

David Lean had the following podium finishes at major championships: 2nd in the 1956 Olympics 4×400 metres Relay; 1st in the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games 440 yards Hurdles, 2nd in the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games 440 yards Hurdles, 3rd in the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games 4×110 yards Relay (with Brian Oliver, Hec Hogan, and Kevan Gosper), 3rd in the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games 4×440 yards Relay (with Brian Oliver, Don MacMillan, and Kevan Gosper). In the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games Lean also finished fifth in the 120 yards hurdles.

Personal Bests: 400 – 47.6 (1956); 400H – 50.34y (1958).
