Biography

Jerry Wisdom long jumped in college at the University of Texas at El Paso, then called Texas Western. He competed in the long jump at the 1970 Commonwealth Games as well as the 1968 Olympics, where he long jumped and sprinted. Wisdom was a long-time mentor, coach, and administrator with the Bain Town Flyers Track Club, and was an executive with the Bahamas Amateur Athletic Association. He worked in banking, with the Chase Manhattan Bank in Rock Sound, Eleuthera, and also spent time in politics, becoming a Stalwart Councilor for the Progressive Liberal Party.
