Belgian long-distance runner Émile Rivez represented Union Saint-Gilloise in Bruxelles. Selected for the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics, Rivez ran in the cross-country race where he finished 42nd, and the sixth best-placed Belgian in the event. His individual result did not count towards the team placing, with the best-three athletes contributing to the overall placing. Émile Rivez has sometimes been confused with Antoine Rivez who was another long-distance runner who represented Belgium in the 1920s.
