Biography

Josse Ruth, a native of Liège, was a lieutenant in the Belgian line infantry (7th regiment) in the early 1920s. Competing under the colours of the Racing Club de Bruxelles, he was seen as one of the top Belgian decathlon performers and was selected to represent his country at the Paris 1924 Olympic Games. There, he competed in both the pentathlon and decathlon, placing 19th and 17th respectively. Ruth later competed for RFC Liège.
