James Peck

A member of a prominent Montreal family, James Peck undertook much of his education in England before returning to Canada to begin a business career with the Bank of Toronto. In his youth, he was a member of the Montreal Amateur Athletic Association and, competing in the first half of the 1900s, was chosen to represent Canada at the 1904 St. Louis Olympics. The only Olympic event that he competed in while there was the 800 metres, although he was third and second of four runners in the 440 and 880 yards handicaps, respectively. He advanced his career in business until he became president of his own firms and also served with the Canadian Artillery during World War I.
