Biography

Distance runner Karl Julius Jensen won five national titles and set four Danish records. Jensen was the Danish record holder in the 1,500 metres, 3,000 metres, 5,000 metres, and the 20 km, setting all of them in 1909. In the same year he won his first Danish title with victory in the one mile race. Jensen won the national title in both the 1,500 metres and 5,000 metres in 1910 and 1911. He also finished in second place in the 10,000 metres in 1911 and in the 1,500 metres in 1912.

In 1910 and 1912 Jensen won the Fortunløbet, the best-known athletics race in Denmark, which was held from 1896 to 1942. In 1912 he competed in the cross-country race at the Stockholm Olympics but failed to finish the course.
