Biography

August Sørensen was a Danish track and field athlete who represented KIF Atletik in København. Sørensen won his first medal at the national athletics championships in 1918 when he finished second in the 100 metres. The following year he won gold in the 400 metres along with silvers in both the 100 and 200 metres. His final haul of medals came in 1921 when he again won silver in the 100 and 200 metres. Sørensen was part of the Danish quartet that finished fifth in the 4 × 100 metres relay at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics. He also ran in the 100 and 200 metres in Antwerpen, reaching the quarter-finals in both events.
