German trap shooter Thomas Fichtner narrowly missed the trap final at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and finished ninth. In 1990, he won a team bronze medal at the World Championships, representing East Germany. In 1987, Fichtner won a gold at the European in the individual event, and added two bronzes in 1989 and 1990. He also won several German championships and set several national records.
