Biography

Finnish track and field athlete Gösta Jansson represented HIFK in Helsinki where he competed in the 400, 800, and 1,500 metres. From 1923 to 1927 Jansson won gold in the 4 × 400 metres at the national relay championships. At the 1923 Finnish athletics championships he won silver in both the 400 and 800 metres. The following year he won bronze in the 800 metres and competed in the same event at the 1924 Paris Olympics, reaching the semi-finals. Jansson continued to win medals at the national championships with silver in the 800 and 1,500 metres in 1925 and 1926. His final medal was a bronze in the 400 metres at the 1930 championships.

Personal Best: 800 – 1:56.7 (1929).
