Biography

Henri Brault was a French national university champion in 1949 as an undergraduate student and continued to compete after entering the University of Paris to obtain a medical degree the following year. He attended the 1952 Helsinki Olympics as a relative unknown and was eliminated in the first round of the 200 metres, in a heat that included upcoming bronze medalist Jimmy Gathers of the United States. He retired from active competition shortly thereafter, choosing to focus on his studies. He attended the World Military Games in Berlin in 1956 as a team doctor and ended his involvement with athletics in 1957, when he moved to Algeria to work as a physician.
