Biography

Georges “Géo” Malfait was French champion in 100 m (1904 and 1905) and 400 m (1905). He also finished second in the 400 m (1903, 1904, 1908, and 1909), the 100 m (1903), and was third in the 200 m in 1908. Malfait continued to compete in French championships at least until 1912 but could not make the podium again. At the British AAA championships in 1905, he finished second in the 440 yards behind future gold medallist Wyndham Halswelle. He achieved his best results between 1903 and 1908. After the 1906 Intercalated Games he competed in the 1908 and 1912 Olympics. In 1908 Malfait advanced to the second round in the 200 m and 400 m but was already past his prime in 1912.
