Biography

Walter Beavers won nine Northern Counties track titles: 1 mile (1928-29), 3 miles (1932-35), and 4 miles (1928-29, 31). At the AAA he won the 4 miles (1928-29) and took the 3 miles when the event was first held in 1932. He also finished second in the AAA 3 miles in 1934 and 1935 and won this event at the 1934 British Empire Games. Beavers was also a fine cross-country runner, competing three times in the International Championship and finishing third in 1932.

Personal Bests: Mile – 4:27.8 (1928); 2 miles – 9:20.6 (1929); 3 miles – 14:23.2 (1932); 5000 – 15:10.8 (1929); 10000 – 31:48.0e (1928).
