Biography

While at Oxford, Christopher Chavasse won his blue (1906-08) and won the 440 y vs. Cambridge in 1907. At the 1908 Olympic Games he and his twin brother Noel were eliminated in the heats of the 400 m. Christopher also played for Oxford vs. Cambridge in lacrosse (1905-07). The son of the Bishop of Liverpool, he was himself a distinguished churchman and served as Bishop of Rochester. He won an MC in World War I while serving as a chaplain.
