Discus thrower Diana Gansky won silver medals at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games and 1987 World Championship. She added a gold medal at the 1986 European Championships and won the European Cup in 1987. Domestically she won the 1988 East German title. Gansky stayed active as a senior athlete and became European Champion again in 2002. She was educated as a sports teacher and then worked as a self employed physiotherapist in her hometown of Potsdam.
