Biography

Discus thrower Irene Schuch finished ninth at the 1960 Roma Olympics, after placing second in qualifying. In 1958 she was fifth at the European Championships, and won her only East German title in 1956. She later married her teammate Manfred Grieser, which was her second marriage. Their son Thomas became a 400 metres runner. Schuch was educated as a physics labor worker.

Personal Best: DT – 55.01 (1959).
