Biography

After falling in love at the Mexico City Olympics, where she placed fifth in the pentathlon and failed in the qualification round of the long jump, Manon Bornholdt later married her teammate Jochen Eigenherr. Their daughters Cornelia and Berit also became national successful track and field athletes. Manon herself took part in the 1971 European Indoor Championships in the 60 m hurdles. She never managed to win a national title but in 1971 tied the world record in the indoor 50 m hurdles (7.30). By profession she was a school teacher.
