At the 1986 European Championships she won a relay silver medal. In 1990 an article in Der Spiegel revealed that there was a systematic doping scheme involving her home club Eintracht Hamm in the 1980s, under the guidance of then coach Jochen Spilker. Kinzel and all the other female sprinters in the club were involved which ended their active careers shortly after the publication of the article. Kinzel worked as a commercial clerk.
