Spanish basketball player Rafael Rullán represented Real Madrid from 1969 to 1987, with the team dominating the domestic scene during his career. During his 18 seasons with the club Rullán won 14 Spanish league titles, nine Spanish cups, five FIBA Intercontinental Cups, and four EuroLeague titles. After suffering from several injuries, he finished his domestic career with a season at Collado Villalba in 1987–88.
Rullán made his début for the Spanish national basketball team in May 1971, with his international career spanning a decade and more than 160 appearances for the side. He competed at multiple editions of the European Championships, winning silver at the 1973 tournament after losing to Yugoslavia in the final. One year previously Rullán was part of Spain’s team for the basketball tournament at the 1972 München Olympics. He was in line to compete at the 1980 Moskva Games but an injury requiring surgery meant he did not get selected.
After his long playing career Rullán returned to Real Madrid where he worked in public relations for the team. He was later involved in the Real Madrid Basketball Veterans Association, serving as both their secretary and President.
