Biography

A. H. Young played for Whitecraigs Hockey Club, in Renfrewshire, both before and after World War II, enjoying a playing career of nearly 20 years. He made his Scotland international début against the Netherlands, at Paisley in 1939. Young was part of the Great Britain squad that won the silver medal at the 1948 Olympics, although he did not play. He later became a hockey umpire in the 1950s.
