Norbert Dobeleit was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf and the Sports Badge of Northrhine-Westfalia in 1988, the year of his greatest international triumph, winning a bronze medal with the 4 x 400 relay team at the Seoul Olympics. At the 1987 World Championships he placed fifth with the 4 x 100 and fourth with the 4 x 400 relay team. At the 1990 European Championships he placed fifth in the 400 final and won a silver medal with the 4 x 400 team. In 1990 Dobeleit was European Indoor Champion in the 400. He also took part in the 1991 World Championship, the 1989 World Cup, the 1987 European Cup, and the 1986-88 European Indoor Championships.

After his sports career he became a well-known TV presenter with the private TV group ProSieben/N24. First, he commented on NBA Basketball via Dream Teams on VOX, then N24 Sports and SportsMagazine on N24 and finally the sports block on Sat1 within the news block. He then moved to Pay-TV channel Arena (later Premiere and Sky), moderated the German Bundesliga, and then founded a TV production company (among others he produced the broadcasts on ProSieben with famous entertainer Stefan Raab). He also worked on formats such as International Gladiators (SAT 1 in 1995), Sportschau (ARD in 1995-96), RTL West Live Sport (RTL in 1996), FRIEDA, the Morning Show (tm3 in 1996-97) and others. He was married to Swiss TV presenter, model and actor Tamara Sedmak.
