Julius Keyl

Julius Keyl was sent to the 1900 Olympics by his club, MTV 1879 München, rather than the National German Committee. There he was eliminated in the heats of the 100 and 100 handicap. Domestically he was German Champion in the 100 in 1902 and 1904, and runner-up in the 110 hurdles in 1903-04. In 1902 he set two world records with the sprint relay. His brother Walter was also a sprinter.

Keyl later studied law and became a practicing lawyer and notary. Before and after the 1906 Olympics, where he finished fifth in the gymnastics team all-around, Keyl began a career as a sports administrator for different sports associations in southern Germany, and in 1928 served on the coaching staff of the German football team in Amsterdam. From 1901-19 he was the leader of the football team of his home club MTV 1879 München, and from 1904-10 was president of the München Football Association. In 1912-22 Keyl served as president of the Technical Commission of the South German Football Association, and from 1923-28 held the same position at the German Football Association.
