Biography

West German 400 metre runner Jörg Vaihinger competed in three 4x400 relays at the Olympics – 1984 in Los Angeles (eliminated in the semifinals), 1988 in Seoul (bronze medal), and 1992 in Barcelona with the reunified German team (did not finish in the heats). He also won a silver medal at the 1983 Worlds with the relay, and came in fourth at the 1985 World Cup (starting for the European team). At the 1986 and 1990 Europeans he was eliminated in the heats of both the 400 and the relay. At the 1983 European Cup the relay placed fourth and four years later third. Domestically Vaihinger won three national relay titles, both out- and indoors. In 1988, he was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf. By profession, Vaihinger was a bank business manager.

Personal Best: 400 – 45.52 (1985).
