Biography

Umberto Blasi was an Italian marathon runner in the early 20th century who was a contemporary of Dorando Pietri with whom he ran the 1908 London Olympic marathon, although neither Blasi, nor Pietri, actually finished. Blasi won three Italian championships, in Roma (1908), Milano (1909) and finally in Legnano (1914), before the suspension of racing due to World War I.

In September 1909 Blasi completed a tour de force by winning three marathons in less than 20 days, including the Italian Championship. In 1910 Blasi moved to the United States for a few months but had little success there.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-38:01 (1914).
