Biography
Giorgio Sobrero was an Italian sprinter in the years after World War II. Competing against athletes such as Carlo Vittori and Franco Leccese, he never managed to win an Italian sprint title. After a windy 10.6 on the 100 metres in 1950 at Clermont Ferrand, France, Sobrero was second in the 200 at the 1950 Italian Championship. In the Olympic year of 1952, despite Vittori’s notable improvements in the 100, the Italian sprinters did not obtain significant results. Sobrero competed in the Olympic 200 but was quickly eliminated, as well as in the 4x100m relay. Internationally, he earned three caps from 1950-52.
