Biography

All-round track and field athlete Harry de Keijser won six Dutch titles in three different events in a four-year spell during the early 1920s. De Keijser won his first national title in 1921 with victory in the pole vault and successfully defended his title in 1922 and 1923. He also won back-to-back titles in the discus throw in 1923 and 1924, and was the national champion in the javelin in 1924. With his national success hopes were high for medals at the 1924 Paris Olympics, which saw him compete in the pole vault, decathlon, and the pentathlon. The podium eluded him, however, with his best result of tenth coming in the decathlon. De Keijser was also a solider, with him later serving in the Dutch East Indies until the early 1950s.

Personal Bests: PV – 3.80 (1932); Dec – 5458 (1924).
