Biography

Eddie Duffy was a South African sprinter who competed in two events at the 1908 London Olympics. In the 100 metres Duffy won his heat but finished in third place in his semi-final heat and therefore did not advance to the final. He also ran in the 200 metres where he narrowly lost in his opening heat to American Harry Huff. Duffy was also scheduled to run in the 400 metres but he did not start the race. He died in Johannesburg at the young age of 35.
