Biography

Willi Burgard was German Police Champion in the 1957 triple jump. At the 1952 Helsinki Olympic Games he was eliminated in the qualification round. Burgard joined TV 1886 Bexbach as a teenager, but also played football with Borussia Neunkirchen in the 1950s. In 1950 Burgard joined the police service in Neunkirchen, but in 1956 he also began sportswriting, and was sports editor of Saarbrücker Zeitung from 1956-94. He was head of the athletics department at TV 1886 Bexbach from 1962-72.
