Biography
Karl Schmid of Luzern was a frequent participant in Swiss athletics competitions in the 1940s, mainly in the heptathlon and decathlon. Named to the 1952 Olympic athletics delegation, he competed in the 400 metres hurdles event, finishing fifth in his preliminary heat, therefore not advancing further in the competition. Schmid was also an alternate on the 4 × 400 metres relay team, but ultimately did not start.
Personal Best: 400H – 56.6 (1951).
