Biography

Ingrid Almqvist competed in three Olympic Games as a javelin thrower, with a best finish of fifth in 1956. Almqvist also competed at the European Championships in 1950, 1954, and 1958. She won 15 Swedish titles in her career, winning in 1947, 1949-52, 1954-58, and 1960-64, and was capped 33 times for Sweden. Between 1946-64 Almqvist set 14 Swedish records, leaving the record at her PB of 52.32 in 1964. Also a top handball player, she competed in 11 internationals for Sweden between 1951-59.
