Biography

From 1915 to 1930 Erik Blomqvist dominated in the javelin throw, winning multiple medals at the Swedish championships. At the national championships Blomqvist won six golds (1915–16, 1922–23, 1925, 1929), four silvers (1917, 1919–20, 1926), and three bronze medals (1918, 1924, 1930). At the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics he finished in eighth place in his favoured event with a best throw of 58.180 metres. Blomqvist also competed in the shot put in Antwerpen, finishing in 16th place in the qualification group. He returned to the Olympics for the 1924 Paris Games where he finished in sixth place in the javelin.
