Biography

Sweden’s Edvin Hellgren was a talented cross-country runner who represented Djurgårdens IF. At the Swedish Championships Hellgren won an individual silver in 1911 and a bronze in 1912. In the 8 km team competition he won gold in 1911, silver in 1913 and 1915, and a bronze in 1914. Hellgren ran in the cross-country event at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics but did not finish the course. His individual result did not count in the team event which Sweden won gold in. Hellgren died in February 1919 in Stockholm at the young age of 30.
