Biography

During the 1930s Swedish all-round track and field athlete Bo Ljungberg won multiple medals in the decathlon, triple jump, and the pole vault, with him specialising in the latter discipline. At the 1932 Swedish athletics championships Ljungberg won gold in both the pole vault and the triple jump before repeating the feat in 1934. The following year he won another triple jump title, along with bronze in the pole vault and the decathlon. He competed at the 1934 and 1938 European Athletics Championships, winning silver each time in the pole vault. In 1935 Ljungberg set a Swedish record in the event of 4.15 that stood until 1946. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics he finished sixth in the pole vault and 18th in the triple jump.
