Sukanya Sang-Nguen started as a 400 m hurdler in Asian Championships 1989 and Asian Games 1990, without notable success. In the 1991 Asian Championship she changed to 800 m and qualified for the final, in which she did not finish. She was selected to run the 800 m and the 4×400 relay in the 1992 Olympics, and was a member of the national 4×400 m team from 1989 to 1994, winning a bronze medal in the event both in Asian Championship 1991 and Asian Games 1994. Her last international apperarance was in 800 m at the 1995 Asian Championshis, where she was unable to survive the heats.
