Biography

Suchart Chairsuvaparb was Thailand’s dominant sprinter for over a decade. His first international appearance was in the Asian Championships 1973, winning silver medals both in the 100 m and the short relay. In the Asian Games 1974 he won a bronze medal in 100 m and was a member of the winning Thai team in 4×100 m. His results in the Olympic Games 1976 were a little disappointing, as he was not able to advance from his first round heat. In the Asian Games 1978 he had his major breakthrough, winning two gold medals, in the 100 m and as a member of the 4×100 m team. He continued his winning streak in 100 m by winning the Asian Championships 1979, 1981 and 1983, and represented Thailand at the first World Athletic Championships 1983. Suchart Chairsuvaparb was selected on the Asian World Cup team in 3 occasions, 1977, 1979 and 1981.
