Lawrence Ogwang finished sixth in the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games triple jump and was eliminated in the heats of 4×110 yards relay (with Ben Nduga and the non-Olympians John Agoro and Yekoyasi Kasango). In the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games Ogwang finished seventh in the triple jump and 13th in the long jump. In the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games he finished ninth in the triple jump. He was murdered by the Idi Amin regime in 1977.
