Zbigniew Kicka

Zbigniew Kicka was born in Polanica-Zdrój in 1950, where he began his boxing career in 1971 with Górnik Pszów. Kicka won the Polish championship in 1978 and 1979, and was the runner-up in 1973 and 1974. Also in 1974, Kicka won the bronze medal in the welterweight class at the World Amateur Boxing Championships in La Habana. Between 1975 and 1978, Kicka boxed eight times for Poland, including at the 1976 Montréal Olympics. Kicka fought in 320 fights during his career, winning 277 of them.

After his boxing career, Kicka moved to Wodzisław Śląski where he became a trainer and coach. His junior boxers won the 1996 Polish team championship, with them finishing runners-up the following year. Kicka was also the coach of the Polish national team at the Boxing World Cup.
