Biography

Lucjan Trela competed at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, but had the misfortune to be drawn against eventual gold medalist, and future world professional champion, George Foreman, in the first round. Trela lost by decision but was the only boxer in 1968 who went the distance against Foreman. Trela was Polish Champion five times, winning in 1966-68 and 1970-71. At the 1967 European Championships, Trela lost in the quarter-finals.
