Biography

Esther Jones was a sprinter at LSU who helped the Lady Tigers to win six NCAA team titles (four outdoor, two indoors) during her career. She was a 10-time Southeastern Conference champion. Jones was NCAA Champion at 100 and 200 metres in 1990, runner-up at 100 metres in 1989 and 1991 and 200 metres in 1991, and finished third in 1988 in the 100. Internationally Jones won gold medals in the 4x100 relay at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and the 1989 World University Games. She was inducted into the LSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007.

Jones’ brother, Mark, played 10 games for the Orlando Magic in the NBA in the 2004/05 season. Her nephew, Trey McKinney, also played in the NBA, making his début in 2018 with the Indiana Pacers.

Personal Bests: 100 – 11.11 (1991), 11.09A (1994), 10.99w (1991); 200 – 22.47 (1992).
