Biography

In 1907, Johnny Garrels, of the University of Michigan, won both hurdle events and placed second in the shot at the IC4A Championships. The following year he represented the U.S. in the high hurdles and the shot at the Olympics, an unusual combination. He won a medal in both events and competed in both discus events at the 1908 Olympics.

Personal Bests: 110H – 15.2 (1906); SP – 13.91 (1908); DT – 42.79 (1907).
