Biography

Tom Jones was a professor of history at Lincoln University. He first came to notice in the marathon world when he led the 1949 Boston Marathon through the early checkpoints, eventually finishing eighth. In 1951, he placed fifth in the AAU race. In 1952 he was fourth at Boston and second in the AAU race. Those were the three races which counted for Olympic selection in 1952, placing him on the Olympic team.
