Biography

In 1935 and 1936 Roy Staley twice set or equaled world records for the 120 yard hurdles, although only the 1935 record was ratified by the IAAF. That race was a dual meet between Southern Cal (USC) and Ohio State, in which Staley and Phil Cope tied for first in 14.2, both equaling the world record for the 120 yard high hurdles. Staley was second in the 1937 AAU high hurdles. At the NCAAs, he finished fourth in 1935-36 and second in 1937, all while running for USC.

Personal Best: 120yH – 14.1 (1936).
