Biography

Austrian track & field athlete Eugen Spiegler moved from Sportklub Viktoria to WAC in 1897. He qualified for the 1906 Intercalated Athens Olympics when he won the 1500 metres walk (6:43.2) at the Austrian selection competition held in Vienna (WAC field) on 8 April 1906. He then competed over 1,500 and 3,000 metres walk at the Olympics but was disqualified in both events when in leading positions. He was entered for the 1908 London Games but did not start. In 1923 he was deported to a Slovak camp and died shortly afterwards.

Personal Bests: 1500W – 6:43.2 (1906); 3000W – 14:32.4 (1905).
