Biography

Ilana Berger was an Israeli tennis player, coach, and journalist. Berger was born in Mexico and began playing tennis at the age of seven. She became a professional tennis player after serving in the Israel Defense Forces in the 1980s. On the ITF Circuit she won eight singles titles and 15 doubles titles between 1986 and 1992. At the 1988 Seoul Olympics Berger competed in the singles tournament, losing in the first round to Jill Hetherington of Canada.

Berger also worked as a journalist for the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, and as the chief editor of Tel Aviv University’s website.
