Biography

German gymnast Adolf Schirmer competed at the 1906 Athina Olympics, finished fifth with the German team, and placed 16th and 18th in the two individual all-around events. He was a member of Turnverein Pforzheim.

Schirmer was a bank clerk working for Sparkasse Pforzheim. In 1913 he moved to Müllheim and became bank director at the Sparkasse Müllheim. He then changed his affiliation to Turnverein Müllheim, also becoming club president. He was one of the most successful gymnasts in Baden in that era. A sports hall is named after him in Müllheim.
