Biography

Hugo Sällström, the son of a mason and builder, later became an engineer. He married Anna Augusta Nordstrand in 1903 and had two sons and one daughter with her.

Sällström was a crew member of the Erna Signe which placed second in both races behind the Norwegian Magda XI in the 12 metres class at the 1912 Olympics. Accordingly, the crew was awarded the silver medal. In 1914 he bought a motorboat and named it Eivor. With this boat he competed in various motorboat regattas winning first prizes Swedish Motorboat Society events. The boat was sold in 1917 and is still in use as Marie.
