Biography

Sandra Cecchini was an Italian tennis player who won nine WTA singles titles. Her wins came in 1984 at Taranto and Rio de Janeiro; 1985 at Barcelona; 1986 at Bregenz; 1987 at Bastad and Little Rock; 1988 at Strasburg and Nice; 1989 and 1992 at Paris; 1990 at Bastad; and 1991 at Bol. Cecchini also won 11 doubles titles.

Cecchini was ranked #1 in Italy in 1989 and from 1991-95. Her best world ranking was #15, which she reached in March 1988. Her best result in a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the quarter-finals at Roland Garros in 1985, losing to Martina Navratilová. In total Cechhini won 33 international caps. Domestically she won two national doubles titles, in 1983 alongside Sandra Raiteri and in 1991 accompanied by the Olympian Laura Golarsa.
