Biography

Despite being quiet and modest as a young girl, Rita Bottero was considered by coaches to be a promising cross-country skier.

In 1954, at just 17-years-old, Bottero took part in the 3x5 km relay at the Falun World Championships alongside Fides Romanin and Ildegarda Taffra and finished sixth.

In 1956, after winning a silver medal at the Italian Championships, Bottero was chosen to participate in the Cortina Winter Olympics, where she competed in the 10 km and relay, again with Romanin and Taffra.

Bottero married Andrea Caballo in 1959 and ended her competitive career after that.
