Diana Gordon-Lennox had a remarkable life as a figure skater, skier, journalist, and activist. Born in Ottawa, Gordon-Lennox grew up in both Canada and England and won competitive figure skating tournaments in her youth. By the mid-1930s she was a member of the alpine skiing team that represented Canada at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics. She finished 29th in the combined event, despite competing with a broken hand. In the 1930s she married the British Army soldier and journalist Victor Gordon-Lennox.
By 1940, however, Gordon-Lennox had separated from her husband and returned to Canada. Just before the end of World War II she married the Canadian historian James Wright, with the couple becoming the joint editors of the Union Farmer newspaper in Saskatchewan. She was later active in the Canadian anti-nuclear organisation Voice of Women, and worked with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on its coverage of issues relating to farming.
